Immigration
Lord Law helps families in Omaha, throughout Nebraska, and Nationwide with immigration petitions, removal defense, and citizenship. We also handle criminal defense, family, and civil disputes and the impacts these matters may have on your immigration case.
Most people do not arrive knowing which category applies to them, and many have been told something by a friend or a notario that is not accurate. You do not need to figure it out before you call. Bring whatever documents you have and we will work out what is possible.
If any of the following scenarios sound like one you or a family member are facing, please click on the box for more information. All other scenarios and services offered are listed below.

REMOVAL DEFENSE
Removal proceedings are adversarial. A government attorney appears on the other side, and nobody is appointed to represent you — in immigration court, there is no public defender. People who go through it alone fare substantially worse than those who do not.
This office represents people in immigration court, whether they are detained or appearing from home.
FAMILY-BASED
Most lawful permanent residence in the United States comes through a family member. The process is paperwork-driven and slow, and the hardest part is usually not the forms — it is understanding which category you fall into and how long it will actually take.
This office handles family petitions from the first filing through the interview, for relatives already in the United States and for those waiting abroad.
HUMANITARIAN
Some of the strongest immigration cases belong to people who believe they have no options at all — survivors of violence, victims of crime, and people who cannot safely return home.
These protections exist specifically for people without status. Applying does not require having a family member to petition for you, and several of them do not require the cooperation, knowledge, or consent of anyone who harmed you.

CITIZENSHIP
For most lawful permanent residents, naturalization is straightforward. For some, it is the moment a problem from years ago surfaces — and the application itself is what brings it to the government's attention.
The value of a review before filing is finding out which situation you are in.
"CRIMMIGRATION"
A plea that looks like a good deal in criminal court can make someone deportable, bar them from a green card, or disqualify a naturalization application filed years later. Because this office also practices immigration law, we are able to provide legal analysis on the effects of criminal matters on your immigration case, and may be able to offer defense representation in relation to criminal charges.
